2018年に台湾へ旅行で訪れました。

高雄にある「美麗島駅」は、大きなステンドグラスが美しい駅です。

この記事では、私が現地で撮影した写真とともに、美麗島駅について紹介したいと思います。

I visited Taiwan on a trip in 2018.

“Miraido Station” in Kaohsiung is a station with beautiful large stained glass.

In this article, I would like to introduce Miraido Station along with photos I took locally.

ステンドグラスで祈りを表現したこの駅は、2014年にCNNトラベルで、アジア一位に輝いた駅です。

This stained glass station for prayer was ranked number one in Asia by CNN Travel in 2014.

駅構内は広いパブリックスペースになっており、イタリアのステンドグラス芸術家Maestro Narcissus Quagliataの作品「光之穹頂」（The Dome of Light）が広がります。

「光之穹頂」の作品のテーマは時計回りに、生命を育む「水」、繁栄と成長を象徴する「土」、精神の創造を象徴する「光」、破壊と再生を象徴する「火」の4つに分けられ、人間の歴史を語っています。

The station is a large public space where Italian stained glass artist Maestro Narcissus Quagliata’s work “The Dome of Light” spreads out.

The themes of the works of “Konoho Ding” are divided clockwise into four parts: “water” that nurtures life, “earth” that symbolizes prosperity and growth, “light” that symbolizes the creation of the spirit, and “fire” that symbolizes destruction and rebirth, telling the history of human beings.

この「愛と包容」がテーマの大型パブリックアートは、計4,500枚のステンドグラスを使用した、直径30m・総面積660㎡の世界最大級のガラスアートです。

This large-scale public art with the theme of “love and inclusion” is one of the world’s largest glass art with a diameter of 30 meters and a total area of 660 square meters, using a total of 4,500 pieces of stained glass.

また、この美麗島という名前は、台湾の別称であるフォルモサ（Formosa／福爾摩沙）の意訳である「美麗島」からきているそうです。

In addition, the name “Mirai Island” comes from “Mirai Island”, which is a translation of Formosa (福爾摩沙), another name for Taiwan.
