私たちは、2021年秋、東京のフィンランド大使館に併設されていた「メッツァ・パビリオン」にて開催されたツアーに参加しました。

メッツァ・パビリオンは東京2020オリンピック・パラリンピックに合わせてフィンランドの存在感を高めるために展開しているプロジェクトで、大会会期中はフィンランド代表チームのホームベースのほか、フィンランド企業や組織が主催するイベントの会場としても利用されました。

The metsä pavilion is a project to increase Finland’s presence in conjunction with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and was used as the home base of the Finnish national team during the Games and as a venue for events organized by Finnish companies and organizations.

メッツァ・パビリオンの「メッツァ」は森を意味しており、施設に使われている主要建材はフィンランド製。椅子やソファはもちろん、スピーカーやゴミ箱までフィンランド製です。サステナブルに管理したフィンランドの森から生まれたもので、パビリオンの接続部は分解・移設後に再び組み立てられるように設計されたそうです。

The “metsä” in the metsä pavilion means forest, and the main building materials used for the facility are made in Finland. Born from a sustainably managed Finnish forest, the pavilion’s connections are designed to be reassembled after disassembly and relocation.

メッツァ・パビリオンのインテリアデザインを手がけたのは、マリメッコやアルテックのデザインチームでクリエイティブを担当するウッラ・コスキネンさん。

The interior design of the metsä pavilion was done by Ulla Koskinen, who is in charge of creative work in the design team of Marimekko and Artek.

室内の椅子や机は「Made by Choice」や「NIKARI」、スピーカーももちろんフィンランドの「GENELEC」。テラスに配置された、座ったら立ちたくなくなるようなソファは「Woodnotes」。

The chairs and desks in the room are “Made by Choice” and “NIKARI”, and of course the speakers are Finnish “GENELEC”. The sofa on the terrace that makes you not want to stand when you sit down is “Woodnotes”.
