Sunset from Phnom Bakheng

I visited Cambodia in the winter of 2019.

Phnom Bakheng at Angkor, is a Hindu and Buddhist temple in the form of a temple mountain. is the best sunset in the Angkor ruins. Easy to stop after visiting Angkor Wat. About 20 minutes on foot to the summit. It is also attractive to have a panoramic view of the city and ruins.

When it is time for sunset, admission is restricted, so it is recommended to go early.

Phnom Bakheng is the highest point in the Angkor archaeological complex, overlooking even Angkor Wat, whose highest point is 65m.

If Angkor Wat is a famous spot for the rising sun, this is the most popular viewing point of the sunset.

You have to climb steep stairs to reach the summit. Also, as you can see in the video above, it is very crowded before evening. Admission is eventually restricted.

Phnom Bakheng is a temple of Shiva. is the god of destruction and creation, a god full of power to break through the status quo and create new things.

The linga is a symbol of Lord Shiva and is a statue with the image of the shape of the male genital organs.

It was not genital worship, but the form of linga was used when worshipping Lord Shiva for ceremonial purposes.
